Sitting on the Curb

Java Cassia

Mother Tree, her children paint

An altar of pink

A dewdrop-lined branch

Sits below a chickadee

Who sits above me

She flutters down to

Close the space between us for

A precious moment

I carefully tuck

Her song into my pocket

Humming as I leave

I was blessed to grow up on the island of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, crafting, poetry, bird watching, getting out in nature, singing, and researching cat & dog needs for when I can care for a companion. I am the oldest of four sisters, who I miss dearly (I miss you too mom and dad). I left my childhood home for college and didn’t end up returning to the islands. I currently reside in Washington state with my long-term partner.
